Janet Iles Consulting & Research Services
The business began on March 1, 2005 after I retired after 30 years working at the Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library. The first five years at the library were spent in Children's Services. After that I was supervisor of the Public Services Staff. More responsibilities were added that included Systems Administration and Reference Services. Special responsibilities included cataloguing the local history and genealogical collection, providing reference services, responding to genealogical and local history queries and providing computer training for staff. The work that I did that related to genealogy and local history sparked my interest in creating a genealogy related business when I retired. In preparation, I took courses at the National Institute for Genealogical Studies.
Many of the skills used and knowledge gained in my library work have been transferred to my business.
